Now that the week is over, I have many favourite items, activities, and experiences to share with you all. I had a very busy week as I was travelling and had some activities planned. Some of my most nostalgic memories are both travelling and being at the movie theatre with my family and friends, both of which I did this week. So, I feel as though this week will be vividly remembered.
Here are my favourites from this week in order:
1. Apps and Puzzle Books

A lot of the games and apps I enjoyed this week helped me pass the time during my flights. They were so entertaining that I didn’t even read my books, which is usually the only thing that passes the time for me on a plane ride. I have been playing on the DREST app recently which is a slightly more adult version of the dress up games we used to play as kids. I downloaded it for that specific reason and because I haven’t really found an app that scratched that itch for years. It uses recent designer pieces as the items that you can use to create outfits for specific challenges, which is what makes it an elevated dress up game, in my opinion. I often found that other games in this category got boring really quickly with few or unfashionable item options. There is also a feature in the app where you can rate other users’ outfits, which makes me feel like a cutthroat Anna Wintour. When I was at the airport, coming back home, I went to one of the airport shops to see what books they had, out of curiosity, as a reader does. I found a few game books that I knew would pass the time. One was a Dell Pocket Fill-in puzzle book which is fairly mindless, and is especially fun when watching a show like I did with my hundredth rewatch of The Nanny. The other activity book I got is something that was completely new to me: Murdoku. I purchased Volume 2: Back in Time and the objective of the game is to find the murderer while placing people in squares using clues and the rules of regular sudoku. It’s hard to explain and trust me it might be even harder to solve. Where the other puzzle book was low brainpower, Murdoku is definitely a brain on activity that is not suited for multitasking. Though, when you’re on a row solving the puzzles, it is extremely fun. When you’re currently stuck like I am at the time of writing this, it can be incredibly disheartening, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.
2. Havaianas

Ever since I was little, my family has exclusively bought Havaianas flip flops. Some would say we were way ahead of the trend. In my opinion they are the comfiest shoes, with Birkenstocks coming at a close second, that I believe go with every outfit, especially the square toe versions. I bought my first pair of the square toe style in Italy a year ago and I have been accumulating all the other colours since. I now have the white, pink, black and brown pairs which I wear almost daily in the summer. I would say my favourite is the brown colour because it’s very versatile and can go with any neutral or colourful, beachy or put together outfit. The square toe also elevates the shoe so they can be worn to either the beach or pool or with a cute going out outfit. My personal favourite ways to style them is with linen pants or a flowy sundress or skirt.
3. SPIDER-MAN: Brand New Day

I was committed to watching Spider-Man: Brand New Day the day it came out to avoid spoilers, even though the showing was at 11pm after my 5 hour flight. I somehow managed to stay awake and really enjoyed the movie. I loved how they didn’t use the normal superhero movie formula where there is one main villain and conflict throughout the whole movie. I won’t get into spoilers, but this movie also broke my heart in many ways. I watched it in ScreenX, one of my new favourite ways to watch a movie because it makes you feel really immersed into the story, the main reason I go to the theatres for these kinds of movies. I rated it an overall 9 out of 10 and I cannot wait for the next movies in this universe.
4. We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer

I was in a slight slump when I decided to download the horror novel: We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer, to my Kindle. It was a very spontaneous and maybe questionable decision, as I was alone in my pitch-black room at midnight. I still decided to start the book based on a good feeling and was hooked to know what happened next. A lot of the jump scares and constant feeling of being watched just as the narrator feels, freaked me out throughout the whole novel. I really enjoyed how the ending made me want to read all of the Reddit theories, which I did, for some would say an insane amount of time. It was definitely worth it because I realized I missed a crazy amount of clues, which was likely due to me reading this before sleep every night, another regrettable decision. I would recommend this only to people who don’t get creeped out easily and usually like horror media. I rated it around a 4 out of 5 stars.
5. Skincare

I have recently started to become more consistent and serious with my skincare routine. I am a firm believer that a skincare routine does not have to be twenty steps to be effective, you just have to find the products that work for you. My morning routine starts with using the CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser and then applying the CeraVe resurfacing retinol serum. The serum is especially helpful to me because as someone who struggles with acne, it is finally lightening my acne scars and making them less noticeable. People often talk about avoiding pimples, but the most difficult part of my acne journey has been getting rid of my many acne scars. In the evening, I cleanse again and use an acne cream to avoid breaking out.
These were all of the things I enjoyed consuming the most throughout this week. If something interests you, I hope you try it out and share your thoughts in the comments. Feel free to share all of your favourites from this past week as well!
